THE PIGALLE ONLY LOCALS KNOW

The 9th arrondissement is more than Pigalle and the Moulin Rouge. It's a neighborhood with another story to tell, one written in hidden addresses and overlooked corners. For those who know where to look, it offers a stay unlike any other. Here are the Joséphine's personal favorites.

The museum of romantic Life

The 9th arrondissement's cultural gem

Steps from Hotel Joséphine & Spa, one of the most singular addresses in the 9th quietly awaits. The former home of painter Ary Scheffer, built in 1830, has been freshly restored and reopened in February 2026. Free to enter, blissfully uncrowded, and the kind of place you leave reluctantly.

PLAYGROUND DUPERRÉ

The neighborhood's most-talked-about address

Tucked along rue Duperré between two buildings, you have to know where to look. The Duperré Playground is arguably the most visually striking basketball court in Paris, born from a collaboration between Nike and Stéphane Ashpool, founder of the Pigalle brand. A small detour that's more than worth it.

HoTEL JOSÉPHINE & SPA BY HAPPYCULTURE

Your Parisian home base

Pigalle is best explored when you know where to come back to. At 67 rue Blanche, Hotel Joséphine & Spa is your starting point. The interiors are signed by Julie Gauthron, glamorous and unapologetic. A recently renovated spa awaits for a well-earned pause from the energy of the city. An address worth discovering in its own right, before you've even stepped outside.
